How is Supabase installed？

How is Supabase installed? I don't see it in the infra setup—does it use the same database as the infra?
My database is private, so how does Supabase connect to it?

hey @wpr7280, supabase is theoretically not a strict requirement for the infrastructure to work, but for authentication we are currently relying on it. you would create a supabase project and connect the infrastructure to it. this would mean following the self-hosting guide in the infra repo & replacing the necessary gcp secrets.

i might add - this means that unfortunately at the moment, you would need to use the postgres provided by supabase, instead of your private database

I noticed there's also an auth table on the infra side — isn't this the same one used by the dashboard？

I noticed that the auth.users table generated by the infra SQL has very few fields and doesn't match the structure required by Supabase's auth.users. It feels like they are not the same table. If they are indeed two separate tables, I haven’t found any synchronization mechanism between them.

Supabase is not self hosted.

The auth.users table that you find in the infra repo is indeed the same table that supabase uses. it has the necessary subset of the columns we are using in the infra repo and it's mainly present inside the migrations to let sqlc know about the table, when generating the sqlcDB client.
