"verbosity" needs to be defined in the context of skippability, escapability, and other subjective metrics / criteria. I am moving this issue to a discussion as this needs further digging into the technical and UX aspects. There is an ongoing W3C conversation in the EPUB issue tracker, I believe (I will paste the link here when I find it). |

When reading in synthetic voice, we usually don't have our hands on a keyboard or a mouse. Therefore, we cannot interact to get the footnotes read.
TTS options allow skipability, and should also enable verbosity to get footnote contents read.
