Intended way to style elements?

Styles are not passed and I can't set the classes of the Nodes, Canvas, Connections, etc or their sub-elements. The only solution I've found thus far is:

store.nodeElements.forEach(elem => {
    elem.style.border = "1px solid #ff1ef7"
});

Which only works for the nodes themselves unless I dig around in the elements.
