Describe the bug
On the Mac Mini M4 Pro, when I mount an external USB4 enclosure with M.2 SSD drive, if I use the Disk module, Stats appears to continuously access the drive, causing the drive light to blink. This only happens when attached to the rear USB4/Thunderbolt 5 ports, if I attach it to the front USB3.2 10 Gb/s port this does not happen.

I also attached the drive to an M2 Macbook Pro running Stats via its TB4/USB4 ports and this continuous drive access also happens.

The USB4 enclosure is an OWC Express 1M2 with a 4TB SSD.

I have another external Thunderbolt 3 drive enclosure attached to the rear ports of the M4 Pro Mini and this does not appear to be continuously accessed in this way by Stats.

If I turn off the Disk module, the drive accessing issue immediately stops.

Details:

  • Device: Mac Mini M4 Pro
  • macOS: 15.2
  • Application version: 2.1.22

hi. I'm pretty sure it caused by SMART reads. I will add the option to disable it.
