The Idea of keeping record of different dashboards is very good. One improvement for this can be if the dashboard can keep data of preconfigured widgets only. For example a showdown menu can be added next to "Lock" where the user can keep preconfigured widgets and add them when he needs them in his dashboards. This will save time in the future when the user needs to use widgets that he already configured in the past.

Hi again! I also ran into the issue of reconfiguring widgets all over again.
I'm not sure yet though how to approach/improve this.
Your initial idea sounds interesting though. I anyways plan to redesign the create widget dialog, where you can choose from the available types. It would be nice then to also reuse an existing widget.
But, then I guess we would need to be able to star (mark as favourite) widgets in order to support this. I'm not sure if users want to browse through all existing widgets. "Star-ing" them could additionally mean to not delete them, even if the dashboard was deleted and such things. Have to think about this some more...
