Support for Node.js 22 and 24

I'm using your great library in an adapter (plugin) for the open source home automation project ioBroker.

Since we are trying to keep our users on the latest active Node.js version, we would need support for Node.js 22 and 24.

If I can be of any assistance, please let me know. I've done a lot of JavaScript/TypeScript development, but never had to work with native code in Node.js.

I can't see any problems with i2c-bus and Node.js 24.10.0 on a Raspberry Pi 5 running Debian. As can be see below, it was possible to install i2c-bus and successfully run the i2cdetect example. When run, the i2cdetect example found exactly the same I2C devices on the I2C bus as the Linux command i2cdetect -y -r 1

Perhaps the version of i2c-bus that you are using was installed and compiled with an older version of Node.js and needs to be reinstalled and compiled with Node.js 22 or Node 24?

Also, make sure that nan@2.23.0 is being used rather than nan@2.17.0 as is mentioned in iobroker.i2c package-lock.json

Thanks for your effort and sorry for the work!
I just installed a fresh Raspberry Pi with Node.js 22 and everything worked as expected.

At least on my system, nan was at 2.23.0, even if the package-lock defines a lower version (but with ^2.17.0).

I was able to reproduce the issue:

• the system that worked, had nan@2.20.2
• the system that didn't work, had nan@2.18.0

Would you be able to update your dependency in package.json or would this lead to issues with older Node.js versions?
