Rogue Spear potential controls issue #1925

I tested it a bit more, it might be performance related (not emulation performance but DC system performance?). I don't lose mouselook input when playing the training shooting range (or in menus as mentioned) but going back to play the first mission it happens constantly. Edit: make sure you set the Bravo configuration for the mouse too, Alpha has inverted mouselook (unless you want that of course). |

Saw a comment about losing mouse input when going off window edges or whatever and thought maybe that solves it but nope, guess that's not an issue in the RetroArch core. Still can't figure this out. I have no mouse input issues with the exact same overrides/remaps (in fact copied over from that game then saved for this too) in Outtrigger (or in the various lightgun games I play with mouse controls on Wiimote). |

My guess is it's a game issue. The Dreamcast mouse wasn't common and it's possible it hasn't been tested that much. |

Oh, that would be a shame. I wonder if the PAL version would fare better in any way since it released quite a bit later than the USA. Edit: nope, tried a couple different versions, they're all the same on that front. Oh well. The controller is workable enough I suppose. |

Another one I'm not sure is a bug or my setup but playing Rogue Spear the mouselook simply stops working randomly while playing so I have to do something like either move a bit, or stop moving if I was, to have it go active again until it breaks again, no clue if anything in particular triggers/fixes it or it's truly random but doing this does seem to consistently bring control back though it occurs so often I wouldn't call it playable. Curiously I didn't notice the cursor stop responding in menus so maybe it's related to simultaneous inputs.
Again in RetroArch, with game focus on, using the game's native keyboard and mouse controls (by having 3 ports enabled, one with keyboard, one with mouse, one with gamepad to have a VMU) so not trying to do anything weird like map the keyboard and mouse to gamepad controls or anything. Gamepad controls don't have such an issue (but you can't even lean with the gamepad controls).
This seems like an underrated PC port btw, some DC performance issues and an obviously cramped interface but the whole game and expansion is in. Just remember to map the left stick to ABXY and the right stick to the analog stick and then choose the Delta control configuration (as the default Alpha scheme has inverted both the up/down look and the forward/reverse buttons lol) when launching the training/campaign/whatever session you want to get "traditional" FPS console controls (except L is run, no ADS here and the d-pad has a few basic actions like reload and zoom and a whole sub menu to slowly browse the many more advanced features).
Unless kbm works for you without the issue I'm encountering in which case you can play like that though you can't remap things so look up the pdf manual for info (actually do that anyway, nothin in game explains even the Alpha, Delta, whatever control schemes I mentioned).
Edit: just saw that the Tango control configuration is non reversed like the above but also changes the d-pad shortcuts to include lean so if you want access to that with the gamepad (but then you have to use the sub menu to reload/zoom at all) choose that scheme instead!
