How to keep the background color to black (#ffffff) and foreground color to white (#000000) for normal text (no-syntax/keyword text)

I want to keep my original terminal's background/foreground (just plain black/white) when using nvim. I tried, but not working.

pretty much everything you see in neovim has a hl group, so I'm not sure what you are asking.

In your code you are effectively changing the fg color. so all groups defined in the theme that use that would use the new color.

For example, I want the background to change from dark blue (left) to black (right).
