Extensions disappear randomly

Once every few weeks when I log into codebuilder all my extensions are gone even though I can still see them listed in ~/.local/share/code-server/extensions/

@lazerlipa Can you kindly check my understanding on the following: When you say the extensions are gone, do you mean they are uninstalled? Did this last occur when you started Code Builder for the first time on May 29th? Thank you!

all extensions including the salesforce extensions are not installed as you can see in my screenshots and it last occurred when i logged in May 29 at night so it was working the whole day and stopped at night

@lazerlipa Do you still have the instance seen in the screenshots available? Can you do me a favor and open some of those extension directories seen in ~/.local/share/code-server/extensions/ specifically a couple of each light and dark blue color in the terminal.

We suspect there may have have been an issue that prevents some or all of the extensions from being copied over correctly. The directories would still be created however the source code is missing.

I still have the instance however I already reinstalled all the extensions so i don't know if you will be able to see anything there but I do see that the light blue ones are just symlinks to /base/extension-overrides/

@lazerlipa We had a few ideas but ultimately were unable to reproduce the experience you had with the missing extensions. I am going to close this issue for now. If this happens again please let us know, you can re-open this issue.

It would be helpful for us to have:

1. The contents of ~/.local/share/code-server/extensions/extensions.json
2. ls -la ~/.local/share/code-server/extensions/
3. The disk usage of the environment df -h

Update: I closed code builder and reopened it after 2 hours and now only the salesforce extensions are installed, attached is the new output of the commands

Thank you for the updated info. It is curious as to how your base Salesforce extensions ended up in a state where it looks like they were manually installed (not symlinked to extension-overrides). Do you remember manually installing Salesforce extensions?

Your latest state (based on looking at the output from the ls command) is the expected configuration. We have opened a bug to track old manually installed extensions being deleted and will continue to monitor if you encounter this behavior again now that your instance is in a good state.
