Can you try In the second set from your diagram, you can continuously open any window until it quarter tiles into the 3rd window. On the second or 3rd window, press Super + g. Auto quarter tile is in the prefs, Experimental tab. Another way is to do a drag and drop to the side of any one of the windows to create a container. Then drag that same window again a little bit to the top or bottom or left or right amd a hint should appear. |

Wow thanks for your fast reply :) super g works (kind of) sorry for the diagram spam, but my English just isn't good enough to explain this in an understandable way "toggled" in the diagram refers to the action drawn in my first two diagrams i just noticed, that the diagram isnt entirely right. In the second column, pressing super + g while focusing the green window (top right) works, but not while focusing the orange one |

When a new window is created beside another window that's opposite the current layout direction, it creates a new container with a different layout direction before it inserts the window. However, when one of those windows is closed, the container remains. I think we can either remove the container if it is the only window and combine it as a sibling of the window (smaller green) or when toggling layout ignore containers if and only if they only contain a single window
