The way standard system has given document level status in all transactions, similar way there is a requirement to have such status at item level too.

For Eg:- There is a purchase order with 10 items. 9 items are completely received but 10th is partially received.
Now we know that the remaining is not to get received. Purchase order shows status as partially received and thus need to close the PO manually. These scenarios are practical and occur frequently in majority of the cases. Under this circumstances we need to have item level close status as well which will affect the overall document status.
Similar is the case for sales order as well.
