The Humboldt Extension predefines several sets of scope terms that describe what was being sought in a survey or inventory. DegreeOfEstablishment scope is defined in the Humboldt Extension by the terms eco:targetDegreeOfEstablishmentScope, eco:excludedDegreeOfEstablishmentScope and eco:isDegreeOfEstablishmentScopeFullyReported.

In DwC-DP any scope can be defined, they are open to user definition and not limited to those included explicitly in the Humboldt Extension. The SurveyTarget class is the mechanism to define scopes.
