Should georust/proj supress proj error messages by default?

I was testing georust/proj for a cli and i hit an issue where georust/proj would print error messages outside my control

Minimal example

pub static TEST_DATA: [(f64, f64); 3] = [(45.0, 0.0), (0.0, 45.0), (180.0, 90.0)];
fn main() {
    println!("Test!");
    let transformer = Proj::new("proj=pipeline step proj=axisswap order=2,1 step proj=unitconvert xy_in=deg xy_out=rad step proj=ortho lat_0=45 lon_0=0 x_0=0 y_0=0 ellps=WGS84").unwrap();
    for (x, y) in TEST_DATA {
        if let Ok(result) = transformer.convert((x, y)) {
            println!("value {:?}", result); 
        }
    }
}

produces the following with cargo run

Test!
value (0.0, -6.60988180244859e-11)
value (4510023.924036822, -3167683.844395182)
ortho: Invalid latitude 

It seems that the underlying proj was the one generating the message and a work around i found was to set PROJ_DEBUG=0 when running cargo run

PROJ_DEBUG=0 cargo run

Should these error messages be suppressed by default given it already raises error within the code?
