Which Icon?

We'd like to collected feedback on a designs for a unified "biometric passkeys" icon. The site displays several currently considered options (but we're open to other ideas).

In addition to your vote, please leave a comment on what you feel works best or worst about any of the icon options?

I like this the most. I would also like something with just a fingerprint. The other options are too complex imo.

that's the trademarked FIDO icon, so if you like using it, it'll have to follow their licensing guidelines (including public attribution on every site).

I also don't like how it semantically implies "my body is the key", which feels a little too literal and creepy.

Non-technical users don't think in terms like that. If they think about it at all, they think something like "my device recognizes me (by face or finger), and then it unlocks". I think "recognizes me" is a far better semantic than "use my body to unlock", in terms of branding.

There's billions of devices, and hundreds of millions of users, where they use face ID instead of a fingerprint.

I've informally polled a large handful of iOS users who expressed negative impressions of fingerprint unlock:

• some found it more "invasive" than reading their face

• one said they felt like hackers (like in the movies) could more easily ateal their fingerprints than their face

• several expressed that fingerprint reading was only on "older iphones" (before faceID) so it seemed old/out of date.

Now, look, these are silly perspectives for people to hold. But I do think they're somewhat "natural" for non-technical folks, so likely to be somewhat prevalent.

All that's to say, I am convinced the icon cannot have just the fingerprint (or just the face).
