When I select a range, consider not showing the selection aggregation until I ask for it

When I'm navigating a trace, I will usually click around a few times before I actually have a need to see any details on anything. Perfetto likes to open the bottom panel the moment I make a selection, which is annoying when I'm not even done deciding what I look at because I need to pause and close it. Would it be reasonable to wait to show this until I ask for it? Or, if you feel that it's worth having up early, why not just keep it open (and unpopulated) at the start?

Thanks for filing! I actually discussed this a bit with the team: one thing I realized is that if you hide the bottom panel, it will stay hidden until the next time you open it. Would that work as a compromise?

The reason we pop it up is disoverability for new users. Having something where you have to click to have something pop up is too hidden and people would be too confused which is why it works the way it does.

I'm ok with it showing up once, but I see it every time I load (or reload) a trace file. Maybe persisting the state would be an acceptable compromise?
