Are there plans to add support for MCP Resources?

Hi @ki-manufaktur, thanks for raising this issue. I would love to add support for Resources I have had a similar discussion on Linkedin so I am copying the answer for reference:

"The problem with Resources is that unlike tools it’s not obvious how an agent would use them. For tools the LLM decide or not to use the tools, all agentic framework already have that baked in. For resources if you look at different MCP clients they have different way of working with them. For example the Claude desktop app let the user manually select relevant resources from the MCP server to include in the context while some other client might decide on behalf of the user based on “heuristic”. In any case it is more work than just retrieving the resource and passing it to the agent we would need to align on how the agent would use them, would it ask the user? Would it select on its own ? Then we would potentially need to change the loop because there is no part at the moment where this exists and so on…" - link

Do you already have a use case you are thinking of in particular or was it more a general question?

my use case was to make a tree of documets accessible by resources, because i thought it is the most natural representation.

- docs://toplevel - View root and main categories
- docs://full - View the entire document tree
- docs://node/{{path}} - View a specific document including children nodes for further exploration (e.g., docs://node/1/0)
- docs://content/{{path}} - Get the content of a specific document

But yeah, as there is no established / standardized way for LLMs and agentic frameworks to utilize these resources I better wrap them in tools.
