The retail community includes individuals who are knowledgeable and passionate about the space, and they often provide valuable suggestions to help grow the Hedera Ecosystem. These suggestions, while not directly tied to Hedera's codebase, could directly or indirectly attract more attention and developers to the network.
However, there is currently a gap in the process for getting these suggestions implemented. There isn't a centralized or formal platform where these individuals can submit their ideas to be seen by the groups mainly responsible for growing the Hedera Ecosystem (such as Hashgraph, THA, THF, etc.), who provide grants or developer resources to help realize these goals. By having such a platform, any group could raise their hand and take on a task, which would reduce bottlenecks in the process. For example, if a suggestion were submitted to THF (The HBAR Foundation), it might take many months for any progress to be made due to limited resources and a large backlog of requests and tasks. It would be more efficient if a community-based developer or someone from the Hashgraph group could take on the task instead for example.
Often, it feels like submitting suggestions via X (Twitter) or Discord is like shouting into the void. There's a lack of acknowledgment or feedback from the groups that can make things happen, which can be discouraging. This creates a perception of indifference: "They don't care about us (the retail community)."
Example suggestions from members of the retail community include:
Integrate Hedera into Allium Labs. Many analytics platforms rely on data from Allium Labs, such as wallet activity, staking activity, historical and real-time data, liquidity, and trading volume. Hedera is often left out of various blockchain statistics (like TPS) because Allium Labs hasn't integrated Hedera into its platform.
Add more bridge support (e.g., Solana).
Add HTS support for various CEX exchanges. Progress seems slow, and there is little to no communication about current developments.
Enable the direct transfer of USDC & USDT to CEX without needing to use Hashport to avoid excessive fees and delays. This would grow USDC & USDT liquidity on Hedera by removing unnecessary friction. Stablecoins are essential for moving liquidity across chains.
And so on.
At present, retail investors have no clear idea if any progress has been made on these items due to the lack of visibility and means to track progress.
Hopefully, this serves as a starting point to discuss what kind of platform could be used for anyone to put forward a suggestion and for any group to take on the implementation of that suggestion. This platform should include the ability for the community to track progress and upvote features. I'm sure there's plenty of 3rd party platform that we can use. For example Metamask have a community board for anyone to request features including the ability to upvote something. (https://community.metamask.io/c/feature-requests-ideas)
Bonus idea: Hedera (or THA or THF) could optionally attach a bounty (payable in HBAR) to a suggestion item to incentivize external developers to take on the task.
