Switcher identifies two GPUs, but they are named identically

First off a question that I couldn't find an answer to: Does this script also support eGPUs over Oculink? Because if not you can ignore the rest.

When running sudo egpu-switcher -v config with my eGPU attached, I get the following result:

I don't really understand why both my iGPU and my eGPU would be identified as the same, and why that (which neither is). Is there a way to get more detailed information displayed here so I can figure out which one is which?

I have no experience with Oculink, so I can't really answer that. But I suppose, if the GPU shows up as a PCI device, it should work.

You could manually run lspci -v -d ::0300 to see what PCI information is reported by the system, I'd assume it is the same (but you get a bit more verbose output) since egpu-switcher also uses PCI information from sysfs to gather device information.

If the device shown is wrong, this could be caused by an out of date (or inaccurate) pci.ids file. This is usually kept up-to-date by pciutils I believe (?). You could try updating pciutils / your operating system, or download the latest file from here directly and put it at /usr/share/hwdata/pci.ids.

I know that Device 744c is my eGPU and Device 1900 my iGPU. But I don't understand why egpu-switcher shows both as Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Radeon HD 8970M (amdgpu). I updated pci.ids and at least my eGPU has and entry there (744c Navi 31 [Radeon RX 7900 XT/7900 XTX/7900 GRE/7900M]). But the result when running egpu-switcher config is still the same, both show up under the same name.

The issue stems probably from the fact that both devices report the same subsystem Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Device 0124. egpu-switcher uses the names of the subvendor/subdevice -- if they are available in pci.ids. In most cases, those are more specific, showing the actual manufacturer of the card. I don't know why they aren't in your case without looking further into it. Unfortunately I currently lack the time to investigate further, but I can give you some notes if you want to do so yourself.

• You could check what subvendor/subdevice IDs are reported for your cards and then cross-check the pci.ids file to see if they are actually wrongly named in there (vendor and device IDs are 16-bit integers, usually represented in hex.
