Reducing the size of the script

As a lot of lines are doing manual installs in homebrew instead of installing all at once, we could look into reducing the total size of the script somehow.
The only thing stopping me doing that is the manual checks if a tool is already installed. Because if its already installed we dont want to waste the time in running the brew update.

Would love to hear opinions on this.
