Assist voice recognition doesn't work with USB microphone on macOS companion App

Describe the bug

On the macOS companion application, when I try to speak with assist, I get a "No text recognized" error.
I've looked at the logs and I see this error that seems related:

I've tried using the website version via Chrome and it correctly works.
I also tried changing my microphone, switching from an USB one to the built-in one. While USB is failing, built-in is correctly picked-up.

The permission for microphone access are correctly set.

To Reproduce

Open the app, click the assist microphone icon and talk to it.

Expected behavior

Voice recognition should work.

Unfortunately this is one of the many Mac Catalyst apps limitations according to what I could find online, when we ask to list available microphones (like in the PR linked above) it does not return the proper list.

Hi, thank you for the quick answer :)

Alternatively, could it be possible to always go with the built-in microphone and not go with the USB one even if it's the one selected by macOS? This would mean that the Home Assistant companion app would use the microphone built-in, and other apps could use the USB one. I think that would be okay for my use case.

What do you think?

Since the code to list audio devices does not work on Mac Catalyst, I cannot tweak to which mic it will use, it's automatically selected unfortunately :/
