Horizon is an ideal software package for a former Eagle user. I'm not sure why you believe that it's not being actively developed. The last release was in September. |

I need to migrate from Eagle pcb. I buy licence 20 years ago and still using that v4.x version from 2005. The issue is hard to install on new linux distros. And even when working the fonts are wrecked. So i look for best solution. And i got HorizonEda and kicad. Why just not pick kicad? Well as long Eagle user i do test that and very quick have out of sync pcb and sch. When I add component on schematic with half routed board they instantly appear on pcb too. Library on kicad sucks. On the other hand there is Horizon EDA. Seems that all main drawbacks are solved. But ... I used TangoPCB for 20 years and then EaglePCB for 20 years, and now wish to pick something that will survive to the end. Im pretty sure kicad can do that. What about HorizonEDA? Seems that the only developer allready lost the interest and do other CAD programs instead promoting and fixing HorizonEDA...
