Reason
In order to facilitate electromagnetic simulations as well as for users to have an accurate calculation of the particle current density.
Design
A charge conservative scheme for current density calculations is based on a path integral along the particles path. This is based on work by Pinto et al. The reference for this scheme can be found at https://doi.org/10.1016/j.crme.2014.06.011
Impact
This is a step towards enabling electromagnetic simulations and will be a useful tool for users when the current density is a quantity of interest.
