As with everything in OrgExtended we aspire to support the full gamut of date time functionality found in orgmode:
One of the most important pieces to understand about dates and times in org mode is the meaning of SCHEDULED, DEADLINE and simple active timestamps. These are like a sledgehammer to your scheduling needs and really revolve around the concept of a task. Is this an ongoing project, like a coding project that you will start on a date and work on till it’s done? Then scheduled or deadline are right for you. Is this an appointment, like a Dr appointment or a lunch meeting? Then a simple active timestamp is the right choice.
- SCHEDULED
- The task starts at this date and is ongoing until I close the task
- DEADLINE
- The task is supposed to be done at this date and if it is not, it is overdue. Like scheduled the task remains in your agenda till you close it.
- < DATE TIME >
- Active time stamps are one off appointments. They will appear in your agenda once unless they reoccur.
So what about recurring appointments? IE: I don’t want the task to be every day, just every Tuesday?
For that, org mode supports the concept of a recurrence.
<DATETIME +1w> - NOTE the +1w, that means weekly until you close the task.
Our support for recurrence exists but is not yet full featured. I have periodically worked to improve it. The best source of truth here is the actual org docs:
