Hi guys, I am just wondering if the word "Duplicate" should be used when in fact Immich detect whether a photo or video is a duplicate based on similarity percentage.
By duplicate it means a photo or video is exactly the same or perhaps a copy of.
Because recently when I was using the Review Duplicates function under Utilities via the webserver, I thought that Duplicates in Immich means having the same photo or video stored on my server. I almost trashed all of it until I come over a photo that I realize it is not a duplicate but a photo that is quite similar but still different.
Also there is another instance where a video was marked as duplicate because it has the same video thumbnail but the content was different.
In this case I believe a lot of beginners user might be mislead with the word Duplicate and just trash out the photos or videos they thought of as exact copy but is not.
I believe this is an important issue to be discussed, and hope to find a better solution to this issue that I think had been accidentally overlooked.
From the Immich App, the black listed photos and videos (Duplicated Assets) I am not sure if it uses the similarity detection or does it detect real duplication.
