After sngrep has been running for a while (i.e. accumulated a lot of dialogs), tapping / to bring the cursor into the Display Filter (search) bar at the top doesn't allow me to delete more than one character at a time.

To reproduce:

  1. Type / to enter the Display Filter bar
  2. Enter a phone number to filter by (e.g. 15552223333)
  3. wait until a bunch of traffic has passed (my sngrep exhibiting this problem currently has 27,000 dialogs)
  4. hit the delete key until the phone number in the Display Filter has deleted
  5. this may work the first time you try it, or you may find that you can't delete more than one character and you'll need to go to step 6
  6. tap on down arrow to exit the Display Filter and tap / to get into the Display Filter again
  7. repeat from step 4

If you manage to delete the number in the filter, now try entering a filter number again from step 1

Early on (i.e. when sngrep hasn't accumulated that many dialogs), this entering and deleting contents from the Display Filter works well. But when the number of dialogs accumulates, the Display Filter input and deletion stops working like it should.

I'm currently running 1.6.0 but it's existed in previous versions of sngrep.

Hi @enlaichu

Are you able to reproduce this problem with a pcap file with 27.000 dialogs? It's easier to debug this kind of issues with offline capture.

Regards!
