Hello Jan, may I offer some suggestions for a future update?

1. Axis Setup
If the Secondary Axis is disabled, then grey-out all settings for the Secondary Axis.

2. Marker Table
Make the values shown in the Marker Table automatically follow the data type that is displayed on the Primary Axis.

For example, if the Primary Axis is changed from Magnitude (dB) to VSWR, then the values shown in the Marker Table (i.e "Data format in Table" and "Show on Graph") should then automatically change to VSWR as well (rather than having to manually change the data type for each individual marker from dB to VSWR!)

This is the normal (default) behaviour of other high-end VNA instruments from Anritsu and Copper Mountain, etc. and would be a welcome change from a work-flow perspective.

3. Change Startup mode to "Last Used" as the default selection.
This is the normal (default) behavior of other high-end VNA/Spec Analyzer intruments (such as Anritsu, etc). They usually startup with the exact setup you were using when you powered-off the instrument.

Note: The "Last Used" function also doesn't seem to be working as of v1.6.2 on Windows 11?
When I set and apply "Last Used" as the startup mode, LibreVNA always recalls the default 4 x Tile setup when I close and restart the application?

Good point and an easy change. I will do that.

2. Marker Table

I do not think this is possible. A marker is linked to a trace, not a graph. And the same trace may very well be shown on two graphs with different primary Y axis types. The same marker would show up on all graphs but there is no clear way to determine the format which should be used in the marker table.

3. Change Startup mode to "Last Used" as the default selection.

I am not sure yet what I prefer. But that is exactly why this is an option in the preferences: all users can chose what behavior they want. In my mind, the default setting in the preferences is not that important - after all you can change it very easily.

Quoting from the preferences dialog (also visible in your screenshot):

The last used sweep settings (e.g. span, bandwidth,...) will be remembered. The graphs, traces and markers will not be remembered and the default configuration for them is used on startup.

This means that what you observe is intended behavior. Only the sweep settings will be remembered. The graphs, traces and markers always reset to the default view.

If you want the GUI to restore everything, you need to select the third option (Setup file). This will load everything from a file on startup. If you then also select "Autosave to this file on shutdown", the same file will be updated to the current configuration when you close the GUI:

I see your points regarding the Marker Table.

With other VNA's that I've used over the years (Anritsu, Copper Mountain, etc.) I pretty much always used Single Tile mode with only one Primary Y Axis (no secondary Axis), so it had not occured to me before you mentioned this in your reply.

I guess this is just the reality of LibreVNA having such a flexible and configurable GUI... is that some basic functionality from other VNA's are just going to be a bit more difficult to implement in LibreVNA?

Also thank you for clarifying how the GUI Startup function works. I had just assumed 'Last Used' meant everything (obviosuly I didn't read the description properly!).
