Error! Binaries missing/corrupted.

Describe the bug
When i try to download a video, as soon as i add a video link it says "Error! Binaries missing/corrupted."

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. download the .exe installer and install it
2. open the app and add a link
3. error will then be shown

Expected behavior
The video would've been added to the queue and would be able to be downloaded

Gotta a feeling this is an abandoned repo, I do know that yt dlp gui, a different repo from this one, also has a similar issue where it says ERROR after you try to download a video.

After finally looking at the final release's date I feel like you might be right 😅, fixed it anyway by using v2.3 instead of 2.4 and manually downloading ffmpeg

Yes, if you click on the "+29 releases" button below the latest release, you can download the previous release (2.3.0 worked for me). You can then download ffmpeg from https://ffmpeg.com and follow its install instructions, or in powershell use choco install ffmpeg, which will use windows' package manager to install the binaries. I had to run powershell as administrator for it to work. Use at your own risk 😅

I use version 2.4.0 and have not yet seen the error about ffmpeg. But I had the issue of the missing yt-dlp.exe file. But that I solved by using this updater. To use it, just unpack it to any folder and double click it.

Came here because I have this same error. " Binaries missing corrupted". But then poked around a little bit and see a folder in the same directory as Open-Video-Downloader-2.4.0-portable.exe The folder has ffmpeg but no yt-dlp. so I dragged my yt-dlp.exe into the folder and it all works now.

Having the same problem and putting the yt-dlp.exe file in the folder isn't helping it like before.

The problem is that the application cannot download or update youtube-dl. Here are the steps to fix the issue (this is a workaround until the application is updated). I'll explain for Windows users, but I assume other users can follow a similar method.

First, you need to download youtube-dl:

https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/releases
Download the youtube-dl.exe file from here.

Then, find the installation location of the application.
Default path: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Programs\youtube-dl-gui\resources\app.asar.unpacked\binaries

Simply place the youtube-dl.exe file you downloaded into this directory.
After that, you can use your application normally.
