Error: gyp: binding.gyp not found #550

I'm trying to use the node-rpi-ws281x-native library on a Raspberry Pi 4 B and it's not working so I'm trying to implement the following solution suggested by someone: beyondscreen/node-rpi-ws281x-native#127 (comment)
But I'm getting the following error: gyp: binding.gyp not found but I don't know how to fix this since there's no binding.gyp file in the source files. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
