jj commit or jj new?

I am trying out jj and I am not sure when to use jj new:

One tutorial suggests the workflow of developing and saving stages:

jj describe - jj commit - jj describe - jj commit - jj describe ...

while the other suggests

jj new - jj describe - jj new - jj describe ...

What is the better way to do it? Feels to me jj new is not necessary...

Sounds like the docs need a little more explanation...
jj commit is actually doing jj describe and jj new for you.
You use jj new when you want to start a new change before the one you are working on is finished. And new with multiple names referenced gives you a merge of those to start work on, so it's very useful.

I see! This makes sense! Thanks! So normal workflow to save the evolving stages of my project is just

jj commit - jj commit - jj commit - jj commit ...
