How to configure Digital ROI for iPerl water meter?

Hi,

I am trying to read an iPerl watermeter.

The meter reads m3 with 3 decimal points. The decimal points are surrounded by lines which seem to cause issues for the data recognition. I have tried to adjust the ROI zones according to the documentation (20% space around the digit). Unfortunately the lines around the decimal digits will be included - and if I reduce the size of the ROI to avoid the lines I keep getting incorrect data regonition. I am using the dig-class11_1910_s2_q.tflite model.

Since your display has italic font type, rotating the image a bit might help.

To work around the irritation lines around the digits, you could try to add a gray sticker on top of them to hide them from the camera.

Same meter here, solved with a compromise of rotation of the reference image (mine is at 89°).
and using digit class 100-0173 (see ps)

I'm surprised of your clear image, how did you manage it ?
Mine is ugly, I'm just using the internal esp led level 4.

I have another issue with this meter, from time to time it does an auto-reset and shows 888888.888m3, got unlucky that the image was taken right at that moment and validated. Now my HA database is corrupted with this bad measurement... any solution for this ?

Thank you for your suggestion @DenisSchef. I have switched to dig-class100-0173-s2-q.tflite and will test it for a while.

I notice immediately that it is recognizing with decimal values which seems to work fine for the meter value but not for the flow:

Regarding the image I have adjusted the camera settings a bit to improve the image. I'm using zoom and also a greyscale mode. I have also adjusted the focus slightly on the actual camera lense. It had a small drop of glue but possible to twist the lense using a pair of plyers to carefully adjust the focus.

Hi there,
with the gry scal it seems much better, my next step will be to add a light diffuser below the LED and a better adjustment of the focus.
But so far readings are stable since 2 days. Actually, we need to be patient and fine-tune till it works.

I always use x8 on the OV2640 and even x128 on the OV5640
