watchdog for detection of permanent WLAN connection loss

Hi,
got a problem of my watermeter losing connection with the WLAN and not reconnecting. As sometimes rebooting helps ;) :
Is it possible to have a watchdog function introduced which does a reboot after several failed reconnects?

I would expect it to try to reconnect forever. A reboot should not be necessary.

Please provide a log for such case (with INFO or even better DEBUG level)
