Issues with Gamepad Mode

Hello,

I'm using the Foxglove desktop app and installed the Gamepad extension to try out joystick control. However, I'm having trouble getting it to work in gamepad mode. Whether the gamepad is connected or not, the list of Gamepad IDs remains the same: 0, 1, 2 and a placeholder text "TODO make this auto populate".

I tested all the available IDs, but the extension always shows the same message: "Waiting for first data..."

My gamepad is a Logitec F710.

I have the same issue. In the YT video he kills the teleop and joy nodes, then switched the foxglove Joystick Data Source drop down to gamepad and it just works.

I have verified the controller is connected and registering button/stick using the windows Game Controller settings in control panel. however no combinatiion of "Data Source" settings in foxglove allow it to see the input.

I also tested the controller using Gamepad Tester (https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad), and it works fine. However, FoxGlove does not recognize it.

same, I've tried with xbox and ps4 controllers, USB and bluetooth, Xinput and DirectInput. It seems to be an issue with the Net Gamepad API but I can't find a workaround so I'm stuck.

I also had to give up on this. I set up the gamepad connected directly to the ROS2 host device instead of through foxglove. It is not even a good workaround.

Guys, I found a way to make it work. I don't know why, but it works with the PlayStation controller, while it doesn’t work with cheap and Chinese gamepads.
