My problem is mainly the need to get any external communications like that approved at $WORK.

No worries! Im still up to yap about jq, but think it would be nice if at least one more maintainer want to join. An alternative could be to focus more on the jq ”ecosystem” and less on jq’s history etc as i personally can only speculate about it :)

Understood. Let's set the date, and if another maintainer can come along, great! And if not, we can make the focus the ecosystem, and all the crazy places the project gets used.
