What method does this use to update posts? #15

Hey,
Firstly, thanks for this plugin - it's worked perfectly for one of our projects and has saved a lot of time.
I was wondering if you could tell me what method the plugin uses to update posts, as I have a post updated notification that hooks onto the 'save_post' action, that sends an email to a certain person based on a selection of criteria, but only if that person has changed since the last time.
The problem I'm having is when you use this plugin to update a post, it doesn't fire this action meaning the notification gets sent out every time the post is updated, without running the check on if the person has changed.
Sorry if that makes little sense, it's a bit confusing! Essentially I just need to know the method it uses to update posts so I can try hook into it.
