Description
Describe the bug
Keyboard shortcuts do not work as expected. Pressing ? suggests several hotkeys should work but do not work as expected (details below).
To Reproduce + Expected Behavior
Go to https://kagi.news.com and then press j and/or k to navigate to a story (this part works fine).
Selecting one of the following keyboard shortcuts but it does not change the page rendering as expected. Note after pressing the shortcut and the URL often updates as expected and if you reload the page it renders fine (according to the URL). But the page is not dynamically rendering correctly after some of these keyboard shortcuts. For example:
-
o: should open a story but pressing it does not open the story. -
x: after a story is open, pressingxshould close a story but pressing it does nothing. -
Enter: Typically pressingEnterwill NOT open/close a story as expected (although sometimes it does but haven't figured out steps to reproduce precisely). - Pressing
CTRL+l(elle) in a browser should take you to the address bar, instead it acts the same as pressingl(elle w/oCTRL) and changes categories.
Note: pointing with a mouse and selecting a story headline opens and closes the story just fine as expected. So this appears to be an issue with the keyboard shortcuts.
Environment (please complete the following information):
- Browser: Firefox 144.0 (with uBlock Origin and Chrome 141.0.7390.108 (with uBlock Lite). I have disabled uBlock lite/origin and the problem persists.
- Windows 11
Additional context
Love the news concept and am excited for this product as part of the Kagi portfolio. Would be even more awesome when keyboard based navigation works as expected.
