How do you import a very large html file?

Hi there!

I am using a free tier commercial bookmarking app and would like to import the bookmarks into Karakeep. But I tried multiple times to do this and nothing happens.

I have to mention that it is a large file (12.4 MB) with aprox. 36 000 bookmarks. Maybe this is the reason why it does not work?
Any suggestions or can the app be improved to accept a html this big?

May I ask where can I get relevant logs from? I am running Karakeep / Hoarder via docker running on OpenMediaVault. I looked at the logs but it does not seem to generate new logs when trying to import.

Now about providing more info. I can send a video recording to see what happens once I try to import a html file.

As you can see, when trying to import the large file, the system becomes unresponsive. And as I said, I left it overnight and it still did not import anything.

Use an llm to guide you through how to use docker logs to get the logs and put them here. Not just the logs from karakeep but also of the crawler and db. With timestamps so that we can now when it hangs.

Is there a way to split your html into multiple files? I'm confident the issue is just that 36k is a hell of a lot of bookmarks and you'll have to wait a while because the import is blocking (meaning the UI can't run).

As a solution, in the end I broke the html file into multiple smaller files. I tried to break it into 9000 bookmarks. But it didn't work. So I tried afterwards with 1000 bookmarks and it worked.

So definitely there is a problem with importing a larger than 9000 bookmarks html file. Probably even smaller than 9000.
