Description
Now this may be totally user error but for now I can't seem to figure out what is going on...
So I have several PC98 and recently I installed 2 Goteks into a PC9801VX. The original drives have VFO so I am using an intermediate, so called, mini VFO board.
With this setup I am able to load games in HDM format just fine, but some early PC98 games used unconventional formatting and as such are dumped in D88 format. If I write such D88 images to real disks (either 5.25" 2HD or 3.5" 2HD) with my greaseweazle, these load fine. If however I convert the same D88 to HFE using I am unable to boot such game with the resulting HFE on the PC9801VX. I am using host = pc98 in the FF.CFG.
I see in other issues that people have been able to load HFE's on PC98. And I have done so on FM77 and PC88 (also with images converted from D88), but I guess I am missing something.
Here is Ys for PC98, this seems to use 5 sectors/track when analyzed in HxC Floppy Emulator. The data rate is reported as 500kB/s, which I am unsure if it is correct (but it very well may be as writing it to disk with gw would likely use the same data rate).
Ys.d88.zip
Any thoughts on what I could try to overcome this are very welcome or if this could indeed be an issue in gw or ff and you need any kind of logging I am happy to provide it.
