Description
DTS standard we implemented in the annotator environment and the ISicily corpus repository is now deprecated. The efforts that went into supporting it are somehow wasted. It might be desirable nice to upgrade the code to match the latest version.
Con:
- DTS is still not finalised (It is in alpha) and may not be before October 2025. So even if we upgrade, our implementation will remain "non-stable"
- It might take significant time to upgrade it. Time we can't spend on other Change Freeze items
- It can introduce new issues
Pro:
- Upgrading to Alpha will make it more feasible to upgrade it to a stable version future in the future (reduces the technical debt)
- If take interoperability, standards and FAIR seriously, we might want to prioritise this
- KDL has an interest in upgrading as our DTS implementation has been used in another project and is part of our strategy to support legacy editions or future projects based on a scholarly corpus
