By doing that, we can:

1. reduce the risk of accidentally tampering input data
2. run different workflows without conflicts (e.g. one workflow needs clips or sounds converted to a different format) => better for reproducibility and separation of concerns

However this also makes it easier to duplicate large intermediate files like clips or shots between different workflows.
