Currently if people are browsing events on the desktop version of the app, it isn't clear that to add or join or a new event they need to download and use the app. They will therefore be looking for a 'Join' or 'Add' button, and be confused why they cannot find it.
Here are some suggestions for how this could be solved, without too much extra development:
Join:
Have a static section automatically included in every event: a heading 'REGISTER', followed by the text 'Sign up through the World Cleanup app (with links), or contact the coordinator with the details below.'
OR
Next to the 'Share' button in every event - a 'JOIN' button - when you click this it pops up with a little box with info: 'Sign up through the World Cleanup app (with links), or contact the coordinator via their details listed in the event.'
Add event
An 'add event' button somewhere (perhaps in top navigation bar, next to 'Events') - which when you click it pops up saying 'To add your own cleanup event, download the World Cleanup app (with links)'.
See attached for screenshot and mock up of the two buttons for the pop-ups.
