Article code vs Source code

After investigating the source code on github to see why I'm getting an issue on my end, the source contains bodyEncoding. What exactly is bodyEncoding? It wasn't mentioned in the article.

Currently I don't think my URL parameters are being passed to the base URL and I'm making a GET request.
