Re-open from materialsproject/pymatgen#4258 by @luciandf, installation on Python 3.13 fails as pipes is removed somewhere in the dependency of crystaltoolkit-extension (which doesn't enable an issue section so I have to open here)

I planned to deprecate the crystaltoolkit-extension eventually, perhaps this is a good motivation to do so formally.

also running into this. how about we move crystaltoolkit-extension into optional deps as the minimum viable patch? then people who want to use it can install easily install with pip install 'crystal-toolkit[extension]'
