Describe the feature

Make it possible to query data from Yahoo finance and possibly other data sources like Alpha Vantage (for stocks, ETF, mutual funds etc).

Why is this feature important?

It is important to have a lot of different assets available to select with price data. On Yahoo finance there is a lot of data for currencies, stocks, ETF's, Crypto currencies etc available.

Would be a good way to support a lot of different assets.

F.e. I read that a bunch of big crpyto currencies or currently not available but most of the big ones are on yahoo Finance. Also I really don't like that the multi currency support relies on a paid service (yeah there is a free version but that can change) and I will probably not use the app until there is a different way available.

In general, Maybe's internal team will prioritize Synth as the "all in one" / "go-to" API for consuming exchange rates, stock price data, transaction data, etc. The goal with Synth is to provide a generous free tier and a super easy onboarding experience for self-hosters so they don't have to setup a handful of API keys from various sources like Yahoo Finance.

That said, Maybe is built with a "bring your own provider" model in mind. If self-hosters prefer other providers, they should be able to integrate them. While the product is not yet mature enough to accept new provider like Yahoo Finance, our long-term goal is to build processes that allow community members to vote and implement providers as they wish.

The best thing to do right now is to open feature requests like this and vote on your favorite ones so we can prioritize what data providers will be accepted in the future as OSS contributions.
