Tails does not boot with boot option `union=aufs`

I just set up a multiboot USB stick and everything worked except for tails. I got the following error when booting tails 5.7 in qemu and on my machine:

BusyBox v1.30.1 (Debian 1:1.30.1-4) built-in shell (ash)

 (initramfs) unable to find a live medium containing a live file system.

I was able to fix the problem by removing the boot option union=aufs.
Am I alone with this issue and needing this fix or is this something that should be fixed here?
