Description
Describe the bug
When clicking the Close button in the widget’s Settings panel, the panel does not close as expected. Instead, the widget reloads and reopens the Settings panel automatically.
Environment
OS: Windows 11 25H2
Build: 26220.7535
Widget Platform: Windows Widgets (Microsoft.Windows.Widgets.Providers)
App type: Custom third-party widget
Additional context
This behavior impacts usability because users are unable to exit the Settings panel normally and may believe the widget is stuck or broken.
Steps to reproduce the bug
Steps to reproduce:
- Open the widget
- Click on 3 dots and click on "customize widget"
- Click the Close (X) button
Observe the behavior
Expected behavior
The Settings panel should close and return to the widget view.
Actual behavior
The widget reloads and immediately shows the Settings panel again.
However, clicking Save or Cancel correctly returns to the widget view.
This suggests the Close action may not be handled correctly by the Windows Widgets platform rather than by the widget implementation.
