Is it possible to create a port for a project which doesn't have a versioning system

I'd like to create a port for beman::inplace_vector but the project doesn't seem to have any kind of versioning system.

Is it still possible to contribute a port to it? I saw in some of the PRs, that maintainers would like to keep the versioning of the port consistant with the library's one.

I currently have an overlay port for it which just has a hardcoded commit as a "version".

No releases usually means version-date but the library tries to claim that it's 1.0.0 so you should really ask upstream.
