You're a bit terse in the description, but does "URLs are not correctly outputted" refer to any of the following, or are they separate issues?

  • [Title](#ref) results in: Title (#ref)

To me, the quite useless (#ref) is added. RFC text gets hard to read with the "link like" text sprinkled around.

Workaround: (#ref, use title) results in: Title
Drawback of the workaround: If you use it in the .# Abstract section, HTML output will render it as " " and the Title will be effectively removed.

I cannot find a way to express a different title without causing the useless (#ref) to be added. Is there a way?
The use case is e.g. [Plural phrase](#ref) and similar.

text output is wholly experimental and is referencing: #223

Aside: don't know what's up with the xml2rfc text output, but that's outside of my control
