Hey everyone!
As some of you already saw, Manifest is pivoting to a new direction: helping developers create MCP servers and especially MCP apps like ChatGPT apps.
Why this change? The Manifest 1-file backend is an amazing product and it is hard for us to stop its development. However, the backend-as-a-service market is already crowded and new full-stack AI solutions can produce quick CRUD applications for prototypes and MVP without coding. This makes Manifest less attractive for the future.
Nevertheless, we do not think that software development is dead, it has never been more alive! That is why we are moving to a market where the Manifest simplicity can be a tremendous help to help developers and teams save time.
Manifest UI is our first product in this domain: an Open source shadcn/ui library for creating apps on ChatGPT. This is just the beginning, we will soon deliver more to make it very easy to port an app on the chats.
What about the existing Manifest? For now it is still on the GitHub repository but we created a fork https://github.com/mnfst/manifest-baas of the source before our pivot. The project will stay Open source and available. If you would like to take it forward, let me know in the #baas channel. If you are interested in the MCP servers and apps, let us know too!
