Maestro cannot interact with or view elements inside the iOS file picker / file explorer

I am using expo-document-picker to access the file explorer and select a pdf file. It works if I do it myself in the app, but maestro cannot tap any of these elements. If I open Maestro Studio and look at that screen, nothing is highlightable or clickable, but the cli can "see" elements "✅ Assert that "Browse" is visible". Is this a bug, or am I doing it wrong, or is this expected behavior because it is technically opening a new app (files)?
