Set fetched unseen E-Mails as seen

Is there a way to set the unseen emails as seen? config.fetch.set_seen = true; Doesnt seem to work.

Ok sorry. I just copied

I tested and config.fetch.set_seen = true; works normally.

Your email server should response with properly \Seen flag set because with the option config.fetch.set_seen = true, the fetch command will be

FETCH BODY[]

Which the \Seen flag will set to the message and also return the untagged response like

4245 FETCH (BODY[3.MIME] NIL UID 202456 FLAGS (\Seen))

While config.fetch.set_seen = false or not set, the IMAP command will be

FETCH BODY.PEEK[]

You should test with mail app like this

• Read email using library to get the UID of desire message and.
• Go to mail app and set or mark that message that matches UID as unread which message will be highlighted in the message list.
• Read email using library with config.fetch.set_seen = true
• Look at your mail app again on the message list, you will see that message will unhighlighted as read or seen.

The result of MailClient.setFlag(&imap, uid, F("\Seen \Answered"), false) is the same.

We took a different route now, because the internet connection seems not to be stable here and we dont want to miss out any emails when we are offline for a few minutes.

this is our solution, we also only want so set the searched subject as seen

That is not purpose of email, everything has limit, it may be rejected by mail server any time unless you have your own mail server.
You should use other methods like MQTT and other cloud messaging APIs services.

I get your point but the company we are working with for our graduation project doesnt want mqtt. We also suggested it but they wanted e-mail
